Recovery Time

As the days pass, the implants “settle” into place, swelling and bruising fades, and your new breasts begin to take on their final shape and appearance.

Immediately After

After your approximately one hour surgery, performed under general anesthesia, you will awaken in a recovery area, monitored by a nurse. Once fully awake, you will be given the okay to return home, under the care of another.

Day of

One Week

The breasts and nipple areas may feel numb in the early stages of healing. The swelling and bruising are beginning to diminish after one week, but not completely. Two Weeks

Your breasts are beginning to settle and take shape, with swelling and bruising greatly reduced. The implants begin to “drop” and are now in a slightly lower position on the chest.

One Month

What to Expect

Preparing for Surgery

You want your body to heal rapidly after surgery. Ensure you are eating healthy foods, drinking plenty of water, and getting adequate sleep in the weeks prior to surgery. Avoid alcoholic beverages or recreational drugs. Get your home ready for your recovery, and fill all prescriptions required for post-op.

After you have been put “under,” your plastic surgeon will get to work on the breast augmentation.
