Facelift or Lipo for a Double Chin?
A double chin is a very common cosmetic complaint for patients as they age. Over time, a double chin can indeed get worse due to increased fat accumulation as well as the onset of sagging, aging skin. Some people are more prone to this fat accumulation beneath the jawline, even if they are not particularly overweight. Exercise and diet, while important for optimal health, do not always help in reducing a double chin.
Two procedures, liposuction and facelifts, are often recommended to correct and eliminate this fat accumulation, but which procedure is ideal depends on the quality of the skin on your neck. During your consultation with your plastic surgeon, he will determine if your skin’s elasticity is still tight. If so, liposuction will suffice to combat your issue. However, if your skin is starting to sag or show signs of aging, then a neck lift along with liposuction would be the best option to approve the appearance of your chin and remove this double chin problem.
