Breast Augmentation

breast augmentation, breast implants and body procedures

If you have a desire for fuller breasts or to restore breast volume after weight deduction or pregnancy, breast augmentation is a possible solution. This procedure can increase the fullness and projection of your breasts, improve the balance of your figure and enhance your self-confidence or self-image.

Breast augmentation can also be used to reconstruct a breast after an injury or mastectomy.

Am I a Good Candidate?
Dr. Stevens recommends breast augmentation for candidates who have the following feelings or conditions:

  • You are bothered by the feeling that your breasts are too small
  • After pregnancy and childbirth, your breasts have become smaller and have lost their firmness
  • Weight loss has reduced or changed the size and shape of your breasts
  • Dresses or pantsuits that fit well around your waist and hips are often too large at the bust line
  • One of your breasts is noticeably smaller then the other
  • You feel self-conscious wearing a swimsuit or form-fitting top

In addition, there are several “musts” for anyone considering breast augmentation:

  • If you are a young woman, your breast development must be complete
  • You must be emotionally mature and fully understand your own motivations for wanting the procedure (the best reason is to feel better about yourself)
  • You must have realistic expectations, knowing that the procedure can bring improvement, but not perfection

What to Expect After Surgery
After surgery, it is likely that a patient will experience a post-surgical recovery period of 24 to 48 hours while having an additional reduced-activity period for a few days. You will also likely experience soreness and swelling for a few weeks.

Dr. Stevens will notify you when exercise and normal activity can resume. Over a period of time, post-surgical swelling will decrease and incision lines will fade.
