Fat Injections/Fat Grafting
With age, areas of the face may begin to lose volume around the eyes, cheeks and jawline. Fat injection, also known as fat grafting, is a procedure which can help to restore lost volume in the face in order to provide a smoother, rejuvenated appearance.
While fat injections can improve the appearance of some line and wrinkles, they are not the best treatment for severe surface wrinkles which may be better treated with laser resurfacing, chemical peel or dermabrasion.
Am I a Good Candidate?
Dr. Stevens recommends fat injections for adult men and women in good physical health. Good candidates should also be realistic in their expectations for the outcome of the procedure.
What to Expect After Surgery
There is usually very little pain or discomfort associated with fat injections. However, some swelling, bruising or redness may occur during the initial healing phase in both the donor and recipient sites. When overfilling is necessary, the treated area may appear puffy or swollen which can last for as much as several weeks. Work and light activity can often be resumed as soon as one day after your fat injection procedure.
